Position
SUMMARY
The Rehabilitation Support Worker (RSW) is an integral part of the rehabilitation team meeting the unique needs of individuals with an Acquired Brain Injury or other serious trauma. The RSW facilitates rehabilitation programs under the direction of the regulated health care professionals.
An RSW is involved in the implementation of many diverse programs, such as cognitive rehabilitation, academic support, activities of daily living, community integration, physiotherapy programs, assistive technology support and return to work/volunteer.
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- College or University education in a related social care program (ie. Social Work, Psychology, Developmental Service Worker, Occupational/Physiotherapy Assistant, Behavioural Therapy or Kinesiologist).
- Certified in First Aid and CPR
- Possess a minimum of 2 years experience in acquired brain injury.
- Experience in the implementation of life skills, community integration, cognitive retraining, and behavioural management programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with clients as specified by the rehabilitation team
- Implement programs as outlined by the rehabilitation team
- Prepare progress notes for treatment team on a weekly basis
- Maintain communication with all members of the treatment team, as specified
- Attend team meetings as scheduled
- Develop treatment objectives, based on information provided by regulated health care professionals
- Prepare written progress reports for each client every three months
- Conduct self in a professional and courteous manner at all times
REQUIREMENTS
- Maintain vehicle insurance coverage of at least $2 million liability and a rider to carry clients
- A G license
- Up to date vulnerable sector check
